"... which will control your physical location ..."
I don't care how self-important the Mozilla guys believe they are, ain't nobody, especially a bunch a' computer nerds, is gonna control MY physical location.
Take your Geode and stick it, Mozilla-boy!
Um Tim D, exactly how useful is an IP geolocation to someone when all it can do is track the IP to the service provider's location, which -- at best -- resolves an IP to a city? City-level resolution is pretty useless. It would be completely useless for mobiles too.
I freaking HATE the localization and regionalisation of internet, and it ALWAYS is in my disadvantage, and I will do whatever I can to block such crap, and if need be surf at dial-up speeds via goddam proxies, or more realistically: not at all.
And I'm not alone in feeling it's bad news either I noticed.
