Crusty old organ powered by PC

Thrust that up your aria
Thursday, 24 July 2008, 21:19

ONE OF the oldest chapels in Port Talbot, in Wales, has recruited a computer to tickle the ivories on its ancient organ.

With falling members, Beulah Prestbyterian Chapel had been unable to find someone who could handle its organ week after week.

With the aid of £400 from a local steel firm, Corus the chapel now has a software package that allows a hard drive attached to a keyboard to play up to 400 hymns.

Deaconess Wendy Jones said her chapel was the only building that survived the demolition of Groes Village in 1975 to make way for the westbound M4 motorway.

The building dates back to 1838. µ

Clever hard drive

Wow, a hard drive that can play an organ. Just think what it could do if it was in a computer attached to an organ.

not in eastern europe then?

there was a recent radio 4 programme talking about the mass movement of organs over to eastern europe. apparantly the happy clappy anti gay anti women wing of the church of england has been spending all its money on putting in sound systems for lame rock bands (and in case you haven't worked it out these guys get PAID to play, its not done for the love of jesus) and nobody uses the old organs. so they being sold off to our eastern european bretheren so our local money make schemes-come churches can invest more money into lcd screens and anti gay propoganda so a pillock living in a glass tower can demonstrate his lack of biblical knowledge. i worked in the city as an IT contractor for a while and the local happy clappy vicar had a better car than me. rich man/eye of needle thing going on here? im an atheist and think they are all bloody nuts so I don't count except to point out the hypocracy.

Sick-0

I think 'themightyspang' should get back on his meds (manic depressive?) Let's hope he stays indoors with all his blinds shut so the world will not affect his rants. I think the mighty brain finally sprang. Is that where he got his name?
