T-Mobile freezes Google phone sales

Sell out
Tuesday, 30 September 2008, 09:01

T-MOBILE TEMPORARILY froze the pre-sales of its Android based G1 smart phone last weekend.

According to the T-Mobile pre-order page people who tried to sign up for the phone on Saturday were being told that, due to the overwhelming popularity of the new T-Mobile G1, it was temporarily unavailable. They were being told to try again later.

The G1 phone, built by HTC, was announced Tuesday and goes on sale October 22nd. The price is $179.99 for those who sign up for a two-year contract with T-Mobile.

Apparently after the tech media pointed out the site refusing to take orders, T-Mobile has reversed its decision and is starting to take them again.

You've got to laugh

I love it when IT sites show off the Google phone. They always show you how you can navigate around a tiny web page screen which is too small to read and when you zoom in you can read 2 or maybe 3 words if you're lucky before you need to scroll. Then they move onto Street View... The only thing, this isn't available for any area in the UK! And then there is the lack of a 3.5mm standard earphone jack socket... But do they ever talk about the phone call aspect of this device? Nope. It does make phone calls right?
