GOOGLE EARTH is soaring from on high to plummet beneath the world's oceans in a bid to educate and expand people's knowledge of the dark depths.
During this year Google Earth and Google Earth Outreach have been working with others in order to come up with a way to fill this gap of knowledge.
The main aim is to educate internet users in marine protection and the nature reserves that lie beneath us.
Thanks to the 4th World Conservation Congress in Barcelona a IUCN WCPA marine layer through Google Earth Outreach which shows the protected areas of the sea and allows users to share pictures, videos and stories about local sites.
This new feature also shows place marks pointing to protected areas, sanctuaries and fish nurseries (not a place to take your goldfish while you're at work).
Google, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and its global commission of scientific experts have come together to provide this illustrated image of global ocean protection using Marine Protected areas (MPAs).µ

that they'll be driving those cars with the cameras into the ocean to map it out for us? I sure do hope so.
First dibs on me driving the Googlepic-enabled underwater taxi that takes the pics of the ocean floors.
So this will make way to Atlantas and the hidden jewels of the sea. I am more interested in seeing a live mermaid. I have seen several so called mermaids but need to confirm this. Should Google decide to dive deeper we may get the glimpse of seeing undiscovered fish and coral life forms. More importantly, this will give a new meaning to the word Earth, H2O and only 70-80% of the earth has been discovered thus far. Finally, this will give good publicity to living under water, since no one has yet though about it. Every one is more interested in space travel and meeting ETs'. In all actuality we have enough resources here and enough intellect to further continue our stay here, should we decide to. After all it is much easier to produce hydrogen via electrolysis than go to some unknown planet and invest billions of dollars on a project than has an unknown probability in terms of scalability. Some thing we should all think about, since its already evident.
Or does that already exist? I'd like a map where I could zoom in and see places to eat, things to do, visit etc. Some photos and people reviews would round it off nicely. Google Maps should be joined with TripAdvisor.
