Building resumes on redneck fortress

Wacko sect hunkers down for winter
Monday, 23 June 2008, 18:40

REDNECK CULT LEADER George W Bush has resumed building fortifications around the hill ranch where he has corralled his people behind a huge stock-pile of weapons. Building of a 670 mile fence along the south west border of Ranch Apocalypse had been halted by complaints from environmentalists.

The greens said the fortifications had railroaded regulations meant to protect wildlife against rapacious developers. But the Supreme Court, the Ranch's highest legal authority, today threw out the environmental challenge, said the New York Times.

The fortress was being built to protect the rednecks from gangs of marauding cotton pickers, banditos, axe murderers, kiddy fiddlers and imans. Building went ahead, despite the environmentalist's injunction. But it turned into a complete farce, apparently because the fortifications were assembled hastily under the fear of impending doom. ยต

Concerns are a joke - at least where I live

I can't comment on every inch of this controversy, but I do live very close to one site that's been tied up in Environmental lawsuits for years now and know a bit about what's going on there. The environmental concerns here are not only bogus but completely insane. The area in question is currently trampled, camped on, burned, trashed, and generally shit on by tens of thousands of people crossing per year. It looks like a disaster zone. Cutting down on the "extraneous pedestrian traffic" - would do wonders for the place (not to mention the local crime rate). My take on the whole immigration issue is not exactly in line with the present administration (I'm married to an immigrant, and I've housed an illegal immigrant until we could get them a valid way to stay) but even so I'm not exactly thrilled with a small group of people abusing unrelated regulations to tie up enforcement of provisions that 87% of the people in the country support. They can't win at the ballot box so they hijack the process with the courts - very un-American, un-democratic, etc.I have a lot of unpopular ideas that I'd love to see implemented (we all probably do), but at least I have the decency not to force it everyone's throats. Also, last I checked, England (and pretty much every other country out there) has border controls... not sure why we get so much grief.

Amazing

I guess this article, having nothing to do with credible news, reviews of any sort or facts in general, is an excellent illumination of l'Inq's friction development department. Friction in this case must obviously be an amalgamation of both ridiculous fiction and fractious diction. Because, gosh, there must not be any government officials in Blighty doing so obviously a mediocre job at the moment, huh?

Thank God!

Thank God the Supreme Court got their heads out of their asses! Secure the border, so we protect our citizens! Fatalities: IRAQ War (2003-2008) = 4,100 Americans illegals & trespassers in America 9/11/2001 - 9/11/2007 = 57,000+ in forms of murders, crime, drunk driving, etc... If we REALLY care about Americans not dying... seal the border... and put up some of those ALIENS auto-turrets. >:-)

tsk tsk...

right, because anyone who apposes ILLEGAL immigration must be a xenophobic, redneck, liar, bigot and homophobe. Silly Americans for wanting Mexicans to get in line and work through the process like the rest of the world. Asshat...

Oh yeah?

One of the government's primary responsibilities to its citizens is to provide security for the nation. Border security - FTW!!

Suggest that

Mr. Ballard restrict his satirical attempts to subjects of which he has some knowledge. That would be ... what? Blame Mike Magee for selling out and leaving The Inquirer in the hands of those who believe that facile anti-Americanism is a substitute for a web publishing style for which Mike became widely recognized and presumably well rewarded. While anti-Americanism often seemed to lurk just beneath and occasionally broke the surface, Mike never let it get get out of hand. Like his old mates at The Register, in truth, he knew that The Inquirer could too often bite the hand that feeds it.

English hypocrisy

I have seen pictures of Northern Ireland. Fences dividing neighborhoods. Fences dividing the island. Fences protecting the watch towers for the police. Police patroling with fully automatic weapons. Britain must be full of rednecks. I hear unemployment is high in Ireland. Do the British allow unchecked immigration across the border? Did they allow this when the IRA was planting bombs? What the hell does this have to do with technology? Is european self esteem so low that the only way you can bring yourselfs up is to attempt to cut down everyone else?

Typical USA-centrism

"cut down everyone else" Oh, because a disparaging remark on the most obvious, most used and easiest target since Y2K is now cutting down "everyone else" ? Excuse me, but King Dubya is only the first buffoon of a single country on one continent. Between that and the entire world, there is still some measure of difference. But please don't go look at a map of the world (you do still have those stashed away somewhere, don't you ?), it'll only make you dizzy with confusion.
