Fiji attacks Microsoft

Hula balou erupts

SOFTWARE GIANT Microsoft has been told not to contaminate the good image of a pacific island by naming its software after it.

Fiji's military government has penned a nasty letter to Vole demanding that the company not use its country's nomenclature on any of its products.

Fiji's interim attorney-general Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum wrote to Bill Gates after media reports suggested that the software company may call its yet-to-be-released media package "Windows Fiji".

Sayed-Khaiyum said that as a sovereign state, Fiji asserted its absolute ownership over the use of the word 'Fiji' and reserves all its rights under all relevant laws to protect and defend the use of the word 'Fiji"'.

Could this mean that Redmond could be invaded by the Fijian army? Well, technically it could be classed as an international incident. Built like brick out-houses we cant see how Volish security denizens could stop Fiji's elite soldiers.

Microsoft's Ben Green said that Fiji "was an internal working code-name for the Windows Media Centre TV software package and would never hit the streets under that name.

He said that he would talk to Sayed-Khaiyum directly to clarify the misunderstanding, and that the attorney-general appeared to have been wrongly advised.

Hopefully he will get through before the canoes are launched, because they are damn difficult to recall once they've made it off of the beach. µ
