Obama gets Iphone App

Geek vote in the bag

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE Barack Obama has made another attempt to drag the US electoral process into the 21th Century by launching his very own Iphone App.

Obama 08, which is available as a free downolad from the Itunes App Store, uses much of the Iphones existing functionality to allow users to keep in touch with goings-on at Democratic HQ.

It allows you to access your contacts and logs calls made to potential voters in key battleground states through the app, which are then logged to a central database, and compared with calls made by other supporters.

The app also gives quick access to campaign news, local events and highlights election issues as well as media clips. These you can show to Fat Bloke Down the Pub to persuade him to vote for the young pretender to the throne of America.

It all looks slick and well-designed, but those of us living in the 51st State don't seem to be invited to the party, as the app doesn't seem to work on UK Iphones. Probably due to localisation issues.

Rumours that senator McCain has ordered thousands of semaphore flags in Republican colours in order to keep up with the modern communications race were entirely made up. µ

He does NOT have my vote.

I can say with inpunity, that Barack Obama does not, and will never have my vote. I am about as tech oriented as they come, but I will not vote for this man. I believe in his policies, and he has done nothing successfull in his political life, other than run for office and surround himself with left wing radicals and even some criminals.

Um...

"Geek vote in the bag"

NOT. Especially if those exact same geeks find out ANYTHING about obama's running mate's stance on net neutrality.

[sneer]

I don't get how some technical people is so willing to vote for people that don't believe in evolution and want to ban books (S. Palin anyone?), unless they work for the new electronic spying agencies... Also love how someone who is center right like Obama is portrayed as the ultra liberal (kudos to faux news).

disgusted

A vote for the Republican ticket is a vote for continuing to do what has already been done during the last eight years without any evidence of success plus a plunge toward socialism, and a vote for the Democratic ticket is a vote for resurrecting LBJ's Great Society by taxing those who work very hard to feed those who don't work at all by choice. Both parties are tax and spend parties; only their beneficiaries are different. There really is no difference between them, and it's typically American to limit one's choice to only Coke or Pepsi.

Anyone reading the fine print?

Or are they just downloading the app to support "change?" I'm in a battleground state and am getting hammered with Obama ads and supporters---and I vote Republican with a McCain sign in the yard.

Do you really want all your calls to people in battleground states logged so Obama's fans can follow up with them? Oh wait a minute, this is the MySpace generation, they'll probably think it's cool.....
