Microsoft gets off of its Cloud

Volish cloud becomes Strata

IT LOOKS like Microsoft does not really like the idea of being too literal about the name of its long-rumoured cloud operating system.

When the shy and retiring softly spoken CEO of Microsoft Steve “sounds of silence” Ballmer whispered his message about "Windows Cloud" last week he did say he was thinking of doing something about the name.

Now the web site for Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference was listing several cloud computing sessions under the subject heading "Windows Strata."

Vole has since deleted the Strata references but not before a number of blogs noted the listing.

The US Patent and Trademark Office Web site didn't have anything under the heading "Windows Strata" which might be one of the reasons that Vole wanted people to stop talking about the name.

If someone gets in quick there could be hell to pay.

Microsoft is expected to detail the new Internet-based developer platform, which may nor may not be called Strata at PDC, which starts October 27 in Los Angeles.

A spokesVole insisted to News.net that Strata might be an internal code name which leaked out to the public. They were not saying anything more until PDC.

News.com points out that it is not the first time that Microsoft has elected to break news via its PDC session listings. µ

Clout Computing

I'd be astonished if we saw some real could computing from Microsoft.

What they really like to do is to offer SharePoint as an hosted service plus some goodies. That's it. For now.

When it comes to Microsoft, we are much more likely to see "Clout Computing" then anything else.

This has been Gates dream

I still remember Bill Gates saying back about 1997 that envisioned a day when everyone would pay Microsoft a monthly fee just like you do for your electric. I have watched them try various ways to make that happen. If we the consumer are smart we will stay far away for their schemes and other companies who try and pry our own software from us.

Japanese TV TradeShow....

While Microsoft prepares Strata Presentation, heres Bit from Tv trade Show:

Cell TV

Toshiba's prototype TV uses the super-powerful Cell processor (the same one used in the PlayStation 3), which essentially gives it serious processing juice-it can do 48 signals on one screen at once.
Then TV remote that uses TV to project keyboard onto screen, remote having mere touch sensitive to move cursor about screens menu.it from Panie.(s0nic)
ok not good enough, 50 watt LCD 32" lowest power made model.
Panie has "Follow Me" Tv, senses your movements about home & switches your show on as walk from room to room. It also will do exercises with your for your body specs.
Gerstner Tv, Opps I mean Gesture Tv from Hatachi, improves Tv which senses Hand Movements & adjust channel, volume & even gives birth to Your Children.
Finally, Low Power Plasma for 2010. Also at Show are Plethora of CellPhones.

Wasn't that Couldy, its all in future.
