Let your inner geek run wild
Hardware Roundup VW Wagon PC
HILBERT AND HIS Guru3D crew let their inner geek run wild and sent for a Smooth Creations PC. These PCs are custom built for high-end gaming, but also feature custom paint jobs. In this case it’s a tower case painted over like a Volkswagen errr, wagon. You’ll get lost in the details, here, we know we did. Who cares if it’s sporting top grade graphics cards and a blast of a CPU? We like the paint job. Airbrushing action, over here.
Les Numériques in France has an English-language site called Digital Versus. They’ve posted a nice little Netbook round-up with four (five in the French version) ‘puters. You’ve got the eeePC, the Aspire One and a couple of locals, the Hercules eCAFE and the Medion Akoya Mini E1210. The Medion knocks the socks off the rest, mind you. Get it here in French, or here in English.
XBit has a long-standing relationship with their local Highpoint franchise and every now and then come up with a RAID review like this one here. The RocketRAID 3220 is faced-off with the SuperTrak EX8350 RAID controller. Go there if you’re into that kind of thing. We like performance like every enthusiast does…
Planet X64 did a tour of duty with Seagate’s FreeAgent Go 500GB +Dock. The 2.5-inch Mac-a-like external HDD can be found in silver, black, blue or red and uses the ghastly USB 2.0 interface to push data to and fro. Seagate Manager handles Backup and Encryption, so your data is safe. We don’t really know what is a “low performance footprint” but Sean says words it as being a good thing… Read about it here.
Biostar is back in the game it seems, as we’ve seen more and more of their mobos tested on sites. For example: Cameron at TweakTown has a Biostar mobo on the bench, the TPower N750 AM2+. 750-based, it offers SLI performance on the cheap with IGP. The tests, however tested both the IGP and a 9800GX2. Get it here.
The Canadians at Big Bruin have an i-Rocks RF-6572 wireless keyboard & mouse combo for review. Comfy, but more importantly, with a great battery life, it’s really a straightforward install and use. You can have this combo on the cheap for about $40. Read the review on Big Bruin. µ
